The Pause First™ Guide

Before your next vet visit, take a moment.

You know your pet better than anyone. You notice the small shifts — the change in appetite, the limp that comes and goes, the way they've been a little quieter lately.

But in the consultation room, with the clock ticking and your pet stressed on the table, those details don't always come out the way you planned.

Pause First™ helps you organise your thoughts at home — so everything that matters makes it into the room.

The Pause First™ method

The guide follows the same structure a veterinarian uses to take a clinical history. It walks you through the key areas — so you arrive with a clear, useful summary instead of scattered thoughts.

Your pet's basic details — species, breed, age, and weight

Vaccination status and whether they're up to date

Current medications, supplements, and preventatives

Medical history — previous surgeries, conditions, or diagnoses

What changed and when it started

Patterns and triggers you've noticed

Appetite, energy, drinking, and bathroom habits

Your top questions for the vet

Everything you need to prepare — in one free download.

Printable Prep Sheets

A structured worksheet you can print and fill in before every visit. Covers your pet's background, current concern, timeline, and questions for the vet. Reusable, simple, and designed by a vet.

AI Companion Access

An AI tool that helps you organise your observations and notes into a clear, vet-friendly summary. It structures — it never diagnoses.

The appointment is maybe 30 minutes. Your observations are worth every one of them.

Your vet can examine, test, and diagnose — but they can't see what happens at home. That part is yours.

The timeline of when things changed. The pattern you noticed over the weekend. The question you thought of at 2 a.m. and forgot by morning.

These details shape the direction of the entire visit. When they're clear, your vet can make better decisions. When they're missing, things get missed.

Pause First™ is a simple framework that helps you gather those details before you leave the house — built on the same structure veterinarians use to take a history.

For pet owners who have ever...

·

Left the vet thinking "I forgot to mention something"

·

Struggled to explain what changed and when

·

Practiced what they wanted to say in the car — and still blanked

·

Wanted to ask clearer questions but couldn't find the words

·

Wished they felt more grounded before walking in

You're not unprepared because you don't care. You're unprepared because nobody ever showed you how — and because five rushed minutes under fluorescent lights make blanking out the default, not the exception.

Why I made this

As a veterinarian, I've sat across from pet owners who clearly knew something was off with their animal — but couldn't quite put it into words under pressure.

It wasn't a lack of attention. It was the opposite. They cared deeply, noticed everything, and then froze when it mattered most.

I kept thinking: if they had five quiet minutes at home with the right questions in front of them, the conversation would be completely different.

So I built that. Pause First™ is the preparation tool I wished my clients had before every visit.

An App Is on Its Way

I'm working on an app that will take the Pause First™ experience even further. It will let you save your pet's profile, prepare visits step by step, take notes during appointments, and keep everything in one place — right from your phone.

Please note: The app is a separate, future product and is not included in the free Pause First™ Guide. More details will follow as development progresses.

In the meantime, the free Pause First™ Guide gives you everything you need to start preparing for your next vet visit today.

Your next vet visit can go differently.

Walk in with your thoughts organised, your questions ready, and nothing left unsaid.
