About Pause First™

Created by a veterinarian, built for real-life appointments.

I made Pause First™ because I kept noticing the same thing: the details that matter most often don't make it into the room.

About

I'm Ólbrith Hansen, a veterinarian and the founder of Cykeldyrlægen. I built Pause First™ after learning — more than once, the hard way — how easily clear communication breaks down between a vet and a worried pet owner, even when both people mean well. Read the full story →

Whatever version of you walks into the exam room — calm or rattled, articulate or blanking — Pause First™ is built so the important details make it into the room anyway.

Background

I graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Copenhagen in 2013. Early on, I worked food safety inspections at a slaughterhouse in the Faroe Islands and covered general and emergency practice in northern Sweden.

Since 2019, I've worked part-time as an official veterinarian (embedsdyrlæge) for the Faroese Food and Veterinary Authority, handling documentation and casework for pet travel and import — alongside regulatory affairs work for a pharmaceutical company.

In April 2025, I opened my own practice, Cykeldyrlægen, offering vaccination services directly to pet owners. That's where Pause First™ comes from.

What Pause First™ believes

Preparation is care

Taking a few minutes to organise your thoughts before an appointment is one of the most valuable things you can do for your pet.

Owners are partners

You are not just a bystander in your pet's health. You see things every day that your vet cannot. That makes you an essential part of the care team.

Clarity reduces stress

When you know what to bring and what to say, the appointment feels less overwhelming for you, your vet, and your pet.
